A Rustic Elegant Wedding in Marine Blue and Sienna Orange at Iron Fish Distillery, Thompsonville

Updated: Mar 16, 2021

Are you having a destination wedding in the Charlevoix, Petoskey, Gaylord, Harbor Springs, Bay Harbor or Traverse City area? We can help with planning your decor rentals!

Where to start with the wedding of J and P?

How about at the beginning, when Tom and I met them for the first time? . . We just absolutely clicked. Tom and J share a love of good craft liquors. P and I both love our rescue pups so much. And our second meeting at the office was more of that great conversation. More like friends hanging out and picking up where you left off. . .

J and P knew exactly the look they wanted: marine blue and sienna orange with authentic whiskey jugs, and touches of galvanized metal, ivory, and of course, paired owls. Rustic but elegant, and uniquely THEM.

After many messages, emails and calls, the day arrived.

The ceremony arch was draped with ivory voile and we placed several galvanized milk cans around the base and at the ends of the benches. And pampas grass arrangements found their home in the whiskey jugs J had found, two of which led the way to the ceremony aisle. Bench seating was softened a bit with ivory linens folded in a "v".

We brought two antique windows on which our own Carley had created an amazing seating chart in an old-timey font. Our galvanized dining table and Tolix chairs served as the sweetheart table set up and J and P's colors were seen everywhere, from tablescapes to the floral.

The desserts, atop one of our antique doors, were all served on our galvanized cake plates. And they were delicious as was their signature drink created from the distillery's own lavender and bourbon.

And of course, the surprises. I had had Carley add a lit candle effect and a pair of owls to the seating chart. We also added several galvanized decor pieces around the space as well. None of my weddings are complete without a surprise (or several!)
