Fall weddings are super popular here in northern Michigan, with October being one of our busiest months. There are many reasons for this, but I have narrowed it down to a top 10 list.
10) The gorgeousness of Michigan's fall colors as your wedding backdrop! (reds, oranges/rust/terracotta, burgundy, yellow/mustard, greens and more!)
9) That unmistakeable scent of fall as nature settles in for a long nap during the winter.
8) Fall fruits and vegetables are in season (apples, pumpkins, etc.) and they make great tablescaping!
7) There are so many activities if you are doing a weekend long event. You and even your guests can plan for some fall fun (hay rides, corn mazes, etc.)
6) Fairs and even some carnivals take place this time of year.
5) Any bugs have moved on to find a snuggly place to overwinter.
4) There is a lot less traffic here in the fall, other than when the fall foliage is blazing. People pay good money to come here just to "leaf peep". Plan accordingly for that.
3) Deep, saturated colors are hugely popular for weddings. Jewel tones such as purples, greens and dark blues are often seen for weddings in the fall.
2) And speaking of leaf peeping, if that is something you might enjoy, there are world famous places to visit while here (look up the Tunnel of Trees).
1) And number one has to be those fall flavors! Apple cider, handmade donuts and hard ciders are very, very popular and there are many excellent spots to find them.
