The Ultimate Guide to Wedding Rentals in Northern Michigan

Part One.

Is the creation of an amazing experience for your guests one of your top priorities on your wedding day? According to the Knot and WeddingWire, 84% of you agree that it's one of the most important elements to plan. One of the best ways to ensure that each of your guests has a "WOW" experience is with decor and design elements.

Decor rentals and design is all about the details. Chairs, linens, centerpiece items, vases, candles and even furniture can create such a feeling of warmth and togetherness. So what do those finishing touches have in common? They can all be rented.

Wedding rentals are so much more than plastic tables and tablecloths, and the options for what you can rent for your Big Day is limited only by your imagination.

Once you've started thinking about planning your decor (and the sooner the better if you are planning a destination wedding here in northern Michigan), the first thing to do is figure out the color palette. Spring wedding? Pastels are perfect! Summer? My favorite! Bright colors! And with one of the Pantone colors being a yellow, let's add some pops of that! Fall? Jewel tones and earth tones are perfect. Winter? Greys, white, evergreens and deep shades of red are gorg! Of course, if you are having your wedding in the Fall and you want pastels, it's YOUR day. Rock those mint greens and shades of pink if you want to!

"There's a big difference between putting some things in a room and creating a cohesive, immersive environment where every detail is considered and measured" per Melony Sebastian of Brides.com. And that is OUR job here at Heart Wedding Decor.

Upgrade Your Tables and Chairs

Does your venue have those standard banquet chairs or the plain white resin? If you don't want your wedding to look like every other one at this venue, upgrade those chairs if your budget allows! Still popular are Chiavaris, crossbacks, Tolix and wood garden style (which happens to be our most popular style).

And also included at many venues are standard plastic rounds and banquets. And while these are great topped with a colored floor-length linen, farm tables are also still super popular. Here at Heart, we carry medium stain and natural unstained farm tables to give you greater variety in choosing which style fits with your vibe.

And don't worry, the farm table doesn't have to scream "rustic" as we explained in our blog here: Farm Tables Don't Have to Scream "Rustic"

The Table Settings

When your guests aren't on the dance floor, where do they spend the most time? At their tables! So why not make it a more immersive experience for them? Delight the senses with plush velvet or crisp linen tablecloths and napkins. Add table numbers or even napkin rings that speak to them about the two of you. If you love to travel, why not use globes or postcard-look table numbers? Or for a holiday wedding, napkin rings that are the shape of wreaths? Or use books for centerpieces if you are an avid reader as I am.

Discuss your ideas with your decor rental pro (such as those of us here at Heart) about how to customize your tables. This serves to create a wedding that has the feel of the two of you and will also create an interactive experience for your guests.

Specialty Lighting

Here at Heart, we have found that Edison bulb cafe lights and fairy lights in drapery are a hot trend. As far as decorative lighting goes, uplights, gobos and projections continue to be requested at nearly every wedding.

And for tables, our gold candelabras and vintage brass and gold candlesticks are a hot request for us. Customize the color of the taper candles by adding candles in one or two of your colors.

Uniquely You

This could mean just about anything goes, as long as it tells the story of the two of you to your family and friends. World travelers? How about even more globes placed about the space? Love Moroccan decor? How about some brightly colored throw pillows and lanterns in the lounge area? Love the old stuff you'd find at a flea market? Rent some vintage furniture and decor pieces. Fans of the Roaring 20s? We've got some unusual art deco style items. Here at Heart, we carry an extensive inventory that can fit any style, vibe or theme.

Still on the fence about whether to rent or buy your wedding decor? Check out this blog where I discuss that exact question. If it's important to you that your family and friends (and especially the two of you!) have a great time and not worry about setting up or tearing down, renting is the way to go. And if you are sure you will be renting everything, as you are definitely NOT the D.I.Y. type, let's talk about creating those "WOW" factors for the two of you and your family and friends.
